Lena is a gangster, and her style is inspired by the 1920s bootleggers and mafiosos. She dresses in a masculine style, and probably deals whiskey. I created this character initially as a school assignment, but have expanded upon her recently.
I kept adding reddish tones to Lena's face, which didn't look good in the setting or fit her personality. I was so frustrated that I used grey and yellow tones, which looked great.
Deciding the light and shadows was the most difficult part. I wanted the light to mainly hit her hand, and cast a shadow on her face. Her face is very concave, with deep sunken shadows. So it was difficult to plot out. I decided for the main light to come from the left, with a softer light on her right.
